The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in response to a petition for registration of a partnership for same-sex marriages, proposed to the Cabinet of Ministers to settle the issue of introducing a registered civil union body. It has been reported DEA News.
While evaluating the petition on same-sex marriage, Zelenskiy noted that he drew attention to the fact that according to the Ukrainian constitution, marriage is based on the voluntary consent of men and women and the state of martial law. The law or the state of emergency, the Ukrainian constitution cannot be changed.
He emphasized that he was addressing the Ukrainian government on this issue and offered to develop ideas on the introduction of the registered institute of civil partnership.
Zelensky in August 2022 discussed Requesting Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal to consider the legalization of LGBT unions.
According to him, the family can be considered as persons “living together, connected by a common life, having mutual rights and obligations”.
