On May 26, the Ministry of Sports of Ukraine published a list of 236 athletes who did not return from abroad after the end of the competition on its official website.
It was noted that the athletes violated their obligations regarding the timing of their return to the territory of Ukraine after the end of the competition.
The list included, among others, former football player of the Ukraine national team, AEK Larnaca striker Artem Gromov, Azerbaijan club Zira Vladislav Kulach, basketball players Alexander Kobets and Andrei Kozhemyakin.
The list also includes hockey players Dmitry Nimenko, Evgeny Fadeev and Filipp Pangelov-Yuldashev, who previously played for the Ukraine national team in the Division 1B at the 2023 World Championship.
Recall that on February 24, 2022, martial law was declared in the country, men in charge of military service were forbidden to leave Ukraine. In May last year, athletes and coaches were allowed to travel abroad. They cannot stay there for less than the duration of the sporting event, for no more than 30 days continuously.
If the athletes participate in another competition after the end of the previous competition, the period of stay abroad may be extended.
