It’s not the king’s fault

One of the most frequent complaints of the public against the system is that the political class spends endless time thinking about itself and organizing its own administration, while the country is facing endless challenges and has to face serious difficulties in order to definitively overcome the various crises ahead. And everyone knows that after the July 23 elections, a stalemate began that could last for months. If the elections had to be repeated, the consultations would not have taken place until mid-January. And in any case, Feijóo’s perfectly legitimate but unrealistic desire to run for office is delaying the outcome of this process, which will likely end with the firm appointment of Sánchez after the conservative candidate fails.

As might be expected, Feijóo’s initial efforts proved fruitless. The PSOE took the opportunity to ironically precede Feijóo’s picturesque plea to Sánchez for parliamentary support to repeal the sanchismo within two years. The PNV has nothing to talk openly with a party allied with a party that hates the economic concert and wants to return to the centralist monotony of Francoism. And Junts hardly speaks to a formation whose partner Fernández Díaz is a member of, which does not object to VOX’s demand for a preemptive 155 to rein in nationalism.

If Feijóo resigned, he would still be in time to prevent the partridge from getting dizzy for several weeks. Because the fault of the head of state in nominating himself in the first place is not with Felipe VI, but with the formations that did not participate in the consultation tour, so the monarch had no choice but to comply with his sole purpose. The data he has: PP’s victory on July 23 and support from VOX. Now Feijóo has to face this heavy responsibility created by himself.
