Aleksey Mukhin Peking lame duck on a possible conflict between the USA and China 13.11.2022, 08:00

Even before the good old Hollywood canceled culture and other newfangled pleasures, he taught the whole world that the American president solves problems with just the push of a button, not counting the previously moral torment or picking up the phone to issue an order.

The whole world got used to it and in principle looked at the USA as a tool to solve its current problems in the economy and as a “shining city on the hill”, what can I say. The United States, through the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, created the illusion that general prosperity was about to come, albeit with debt, but it was.

Countries believed and entered relevant programs, followed the recommendations of the World Bank and IMF, but prosperity did not come. Moreover, it turned out that the natural resources of the countries that bought tickets to the “American dream” from the United States of America no longer belong to these countries, but to international companies. But even this turned out to be not the most terrible – after the nineties came zero.

And just like a carriage turning into a pumpkin in a fairy tale, the credibility of the United States after the collapse of the USSR disappeared and reality began to look like a classic horror: Yugoslavia was bombed in 1999, then Iraq and Libya were devastated. years agonizingly long and unsuccessful, finally building democracy in Afghanistan and finally the holy “Assad must go!” As a signal of a civil war involving external factors in Syria in 2011.

Milosevic died (the old man was tried on unfounded charges), Hussein was executed, Gaddafi was shattered … But perhaps the machine of “Western democracy” clearly failed against Bashar Assad. And it was the fault of Russia, which simply said, “No, it can’t go on like this.”

But is Russia now the ultimate US target? Will the “total defeat” desired by the Atlanticists be the end point of the hegemon identity in the world crisis?

I think no

Western countries measure their military potential with Russia and regularly hope for good luck and test the patience of a nuclear power. It seems that the collective defeats of 1815 and 1945 are still haunting, and the task is set at all costs to get rid of this political inferiority complex. The United States and other Western countries see China as the role of the former Soviet Union and is extending its influence to an increasing number of countries with the help of trade and economic ties and loans.

For them, the Chinese economy is now an obvious challenge, and allegiance to it is accompanied by severe painful feelings in all imperial organs.

So, after testing the sanctions toolkit on Russia (a joke – almost 12,000 illegal sanctions since 2012?), Western countries are clearly planning to apply it to China as well. Already used, I’m definitely talking.

However, for a large-scale conflict with China, the United States itself needs an extraordinarily talented, at least seemingly talented, president: someone needs to be personally accountable, despite the restrictions Congress has placed on Donald Trump, who has been elected president since 2016. The upcoming conflict is later, but first assume the role of the initiator of the conflict. Therefore, the question of the impeachment of Republicans against Joe Biden periodically arises, as the interested parties cannot decide on the timing of the launch of an open operation by Western countries against China.

Therefore, the early or timely departure of “sleepy Joe”, if you are lucky with your health, is predetermined and will not have a second presidential cadence. Actually, Biden is already a “lame duck” but the Taiwan conflict will definitely make him a “lame Peking duck”.

But we know that this dish, Peking duck, has been cooked for quite some time and is a complex dish, so there is no need to rely on a military confrontation between the US and China in the near to medium term.

In my opinion, there will be no armed conflict between these two countries, neither on the “Taiwan case” or on any other issue – they will agree. But reaching an agreement will require both sides to flex their muscles and strengthen their negotiating positions at the other’s expense. This is where Taiwan comes in handy.

Thus, the conflict “between economic entities,” as they say, is inevitable and the conflict is brutal.

The strategic goal of the US establishment right now is the need to prove that they do not have unmatched toughness and potential to defend their interests: they are ready to destroy not only clues to other people’s greatness, but also American “communication ships”. and Chinese economies, despite the fact that China practically always plays by the rules and its leadership meaningfully avoids open confrontations involving the United States.

So in the current situation – according to the results of the Congressional midterm elections – it’s not just about the list of dishes on the menu or the products that are brought to the table, it’s also about who stays chef in the global chef. geopolitics will be the dish for the kitchen and whose table.

The stakes are high and Joe Biden is no longer pulling, he’s not the “lame duck” of first freshness, and freshness, as the classic speaks of it, should still be one – first and last.
