An 18-year-old resident of Yakutsk faced a courtroom appearance where he was accused of luring schoolgirls into prostitution. The information was disclosed by the Supreme Court of Yakutia, with coverage from kp.ru as the primary reporting source.
The court issued its verdict after reviewing the case, finding the defendant guilty. He received a sentence of seven years in a penal colony. An important factor in reaching the sentence was the evidence that the accused had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl, which the court took into account during sentencing. The cassation instance examined an objection to the sentence but chose to uphold the original seven-year term without modification.
The events described reportedly took place in March of the preceding year. According to the court’s findings, the accused coerced two underage girls aged 16 and 13 into prostitution, utilizing online platforms to locate clients. He is also said to have located and rented venues to provide the services and to have set the pricing for them. One girl indicated that the proceeds from the services were deposited into her account, yet the individual acting as the “employer” did not issue wages; instead, she claimed to have received only food in return for her work.
Separately, a court in Mordovia issued sentences to six locals involved in the prostitution of minors, marking another case within the same category of offenses and highlighting ongoing legal action against such crimes in the region.
