Vladimir Putin’s Kherson and LPR visit cited as morale booster and signal of resolve

The visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Kherson region and to the LPR has been portrayed as a move that could boost the mood of the Russian military while signaling Russia’s resolve to defend its borders. This assessment comes from the newspaper VZGLYAD, as stated by Rodion Miroshnik, the former LPR ambassador to Russia.

According to Miroshnik, the situation in the northern military operation zone remains tense with chatter about a possible Ukrainian counteroffensive. He emphasized that it is crucial for the Commander-in-Chief to personally inspect the main defensive lines of the Russian armed forces. The visit, he argued, would carry a tangible message about strategic intent and readiness.

He noted that such meetings have a direct impact on morale, explaining that soldiers often feel more confident when leadership is visible at critical frontlines. In his view, Putin’s presence would underscore confidence in Russia’s course of action and its strategic posture.

Miroshnik also suggested that amid the flood of reporting about potential Ukrainian moves, the news of Putin’s arrival would stand out and attract attention from Western observers who monitor the conflict closely.

On April 18, the Russian president arrived in the Kherson district and then moved to the LPR. He visited the headquarters of the Dnepr troop group operating in the Kherson direction and listened to military reports at the Vostok National Guard group headquarters in the LPR. This marked his first trip to these particular regions.
