Ukrainian Railways reported that twenty trains were left standing by as delays stretched across routes due to a power cut that affected multiple railway sections. The information was shared on the company’s Telegram channel, which has become a direct channel for updates during disruptions.
According to the message, twelve flights were affected and eight flights faced delays of an hour or more, underscoring the broad impact of the outage on both passenger and regional rail operations.
The railway operator noted that the overall situation at stations across the country remained under control, even as the electricity supply to Kharkov and Dnipro stations was restored using on-site power generators. This contingency approach ensured that critical services could continue and passengers could be directed to safety while power was being stabilized.
At the Dnipro train station, passengers were advised to remain near bomb shelters and follow the alerts issued by authorities. This measure was part of standard safety protocols designed to safeguard travelers during moments of elevated risk, particularly in areas where infrastructure was temporarily stressed.
Earlier reports indicated that several railway segments in the Kharkov, Kirovograd, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions sustained damage to the energy network. In the immediate future, passenger electric trains in these areas were to operate with the assistance of spare diesel locomotives to maintain service continuity and minimize further disruptions for travelers relying on daily commutes and intercity connections.
In a separate development, law enforcement personnel conducted operational searches that led to the detention of two Berdyansk residents tied to actions described as sabotage against the railway line. The interventions reflect ongoing efforts to safeguard critical transport corridors and maintain safe operational conditions for rail users across the affected regions.
