Impact and Aftermath of Substation Explosion Near Zaporozhye Power Plant

Vladimir Rogov, head of the movement, proclaimed on a telegraph channel, “We are with Russia,” amid reports about an explosion at a substation near the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant in Zaporozhye. He stated that initial data suggests the blast affected the substation and the engine room.

Subsequently, Rogov clarified that at the moment of the explosion, ten to eleven generators were in operation at the facility, with one unit serving the hydroelectric station itself.

Morning brought a weather alert across Ukraine as officials confirmed blasts in several regions, including Kyiv, Krivoy Rog, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, and Nikolaev. Electricity supplies in Kharkov and Poltava were knocked out entirely. The Kiev metro suspended service, with many residents using it as a shelter. The Office of the President reported widespread emergency power outages nationwide, attributing the disruptions to missiles striking power generation facilities.

There were at least three explosions recorded in the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye as authorities assessed the damage and the impact on regional power networks.
