The Department of Defense’s All Anomalies Investigation Office, known as AARO, has released a world map that highlights UFO sighting patterns from 1996 through 2023. The document has been made available on official government sites.

According to the map, over the last 27 years UFO activity has appeared most frequently along the east and west coasts of the United States, near the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and at major Middle Eastern hubs such as Baghdad, Doha, and Dubai.

AARO did not publish an exact tally of sightings for the period. The brief report also summarizes the main attributes of the unidentified objects as described by eyewitnesses. The document notes that observers most often report round or spherical objects in the sky, typically one to four meters in diameter, white or silver in color, at altitudes ranging from roughly three to ten kilometers.

The Pentagon previously announced plans to launch a site hosting declassified information and videos about UFOs. (Source: DoD AARO)
