Two individuals in charge of a txosna at the Festivities of Puerto Viejo de Algorta in Getxo interfered with emergency responders and blocked the path of an ambulance, according to the Basque Government Security Department. The incident occurred during the town’s celebration period, in the early hours of Monday, when a young woman appeared to have suffered a potential injury and required medical attention.

Ertzaintza officers on the scene, wearing plain clothes and called to assist the emergency, reported that the two people supervising the txosna attempted to keep the young woman from joining the police and ambulance crew. Despite clear signals that medical help was ready to transport the person to a hospital, the txosna supervisors repeatedly impeded the police operation and delayed the handoff to medical staff.

The situation persisted through multiple attempts to resolve the obstruction. After sustained refusal and ongoing mediation by the party organizer, the two supervisors eventually complied and allowed the officers to attend to the young woman, escort her to the ambulance, and ensure she received hospital care. The ambulance subsequently transported her for treatment, while authorities documented the events and began gathering relevant information to determine what had occurred.

Two of the txosna managers have been identified and are being investigated for the crime of serious disobedience to an agent by interfering with a police relief operation. At this time, there is no record of the junior person involved filing a formal complaint about any puncture or injury, according to officials.
