Civil Guard officers arrested two individuals in connection with a knife assault that occurred in the town of Piles, located in the Safor region of Valencia. The suspects include a 21-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, both identified as Spanish citizens. The arrests took place under a case opened as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, referred to as Operation Ajavan, according to a statement released by Civil Guard sources. The assault unfolded on a public street: a man was stabbed in the abdomen, drawing immediate attention from nearby residents and passersby.
According to initial inquiries conducted by the Civil Guard, the attack appears to have been triggered by comments reportedly made by the victim, who was a friend of both suspects. In the moments that followed, the woman is alleged to have stabbed the victim in the stomach in the middle of the street. The two suspects then attempted to flee the area, with the man allegedly trying to assist the woman in removing a weapon from the scene when it proved difficult to do so. Despite their efforts to escape, they left the victim gravely injured, with the knife still embedded in the abdomen.

An eyewitness on the scene and Civil Security personnel were quick to respond, providing initial aid before medical teams arrived. The victim remained conscious and able to give information that helped identify the perpetrators, a detail corroborated by another observer present at the scene. After being stabilized by emergency medical personnel, the patient was transported to hospital for treatment.
The hospital chosen for treatment was Francisco de Borja Hospital in Gandia, where medical staff assessed and treated the blunt abdominal injuries, noting stabilization and ongoing recovery. The response by responders and the rapid transfer to care played a key role in the management of the incident and the ongoing assessment of the victim’s condition.
The two suspects were taken into custody following a process that included a visual inspection, formal statements, and photogenic identification procedures. Both individuals are confirmed to be Spanish citizens, with the woman aged 21 and the man aged 34. Following their presentation before the judiciary, the court determined the woman should remain in detention without bail on charges of serious assault, while the man was released on related charges pending further proceedings.
Hearing schedules were subsequently directed to the Court of First Instance handling the case, along with Gandia’s designated orders for the matter. The procedural steps reflect the standard approach of authorities in handling violent crime cases, ensuring that both the rights of the accused and the safety of the community are addressed through due process.
