La Guardia Civil arrested two men who allegedly entered the home of an 83 year old woman in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, bound her, threatened her with a large knife, and stole numerous pieces of jewelry. The incident unfolded in the morning hours, as around ten o’clock on January 31, authorities received a call reporting a violent robbery at the octogenarian’s residence, where she was accompanied by her 63 year old housekeeper. The information was later shared by the Madrid Command, which explained that two hooded men approached the house posing as postal workers, bound the two women with zip ties, and threatened them with a sizable knife until the homeowner disclosed the safe key and the location of her jewelry stash. The investigators organized a search operation that led to the suspects being located in the same municipality. The two men, both previously convicted for property crimes, were found in Colmenar Viejo. After a belongings check, authorities recovered a backpack full of jewels whose provenance could not be verified. The items were seized, and the victim reclaimed ownership of the jewelry at the Guardia Civil station in Colmenar Viejo, where the two suspects were taken as suspects in a violent robbery case. The pair, Colombian nationals aged 36 and 29, have been placed under judicial custody awaiting charges related to robbery with violence.
