One of Colmenar Viejo’s doctors faced a serious case that drew attention to the living conditions of his seven younger siblings at school and the moment a second term grade was handed over, sparking fear of three potential failures.
The day before, a claim described by legal sources as a looming threat of punishment involved a party with notes, a statement used in court to support allegations of beating, a detail the defense argued was pre-arranged evidence in the investigation, according to Europa Press.
The mother, who was briefly detained and later released on charges, disputed accusations that her husband abused their eight children and herself. She labeled the young accuser’s statements as vague.
The Civil Guard arrested the couple at the end of March for allegedly mistreating children who were kept isolated in a room and forbidden from entering the living room. The minors reportedly endured physical punishments or were made to stay on the porch as discipline.
The case presents two legal angles. A Violence Against Women judge is handling the case involving alleged abuse of women, a claim the Madrid Prosecutor’s Office has pursued independently. The husband was released on charges, and a suspension order concerning the wife rests with the court. The prosecutor requested provisional measures as the mother withdrew her own prosecution against her husband.
The mother’s defense asked the court to lift the restriction. The wife denies any physical or psychological abuse and describes the minor’s accusations as vague.
In a separate matter, another Colmenar judge is examining cases where minors gave statements backed by so-called preconstructed evidence. Parental authority has been withdrawn, and the children are now under supervision at a Madrid regional facility.
Preconstructed testing for minors occurs in Gesell chambers, a controlled space designed to minimize secondary victimization during court procedures. This method allows juries to hear testimony in a way that reduces retraumatization for vulnerable witnesses.
Relevant testimony has begun from one of the girls, with further findings expected regarding another minor. A boy, reportedly underage, accused his father of mistreatment and also described abuse toward his siblings. The girl involved indicated a shift in her life, including new work prospects and social activities, according to sources close to the investigation.
Complaint after grades
The investigation began after one of the girls told school officials about the alleged abuse by her parents. The complaint reportedly occurred on the same day the March grades were released.
There is a claim that the father warned about a party the day before when the notes were received, which the minor interpreted as a sign of a beating. After failing three classes, she told her teachers what was happening at home.
On March 20, authorities conducted a search of the home with the involvement of the Colmenar Forensic Police Team. The Prosecutor on Duty, local police Protective Agents, Social Services, and the EMUME unit of the Madrid Command participated in the operation.
Following the investigation, a detailed assessment of the family environment was performed and cross-checked with information from local police and social services. This work revealed that, in addition to the young girl, seven other minors could be victims of domestic violence.
The minors were found to be missing a lot of classes, with absences often justified by the father, who works as a doctor in a Madrid hospital. Surveillance around the family residence was maintained as investigators pursued their suspicions.
Dirt in an unhealthy home
The residence was described as in poor condition across most rooms, with the exception of the father’s office. Only one of the two bathrooms was in use, and it was dirty and cluttered.
The kitchen was left in a deplorable state, showing poor sanitation and hygiene. Hospital gowns, aprons, and operating room garments were found, along with gloves, masks, gauze, and medicines, prompting questions about the source of these items and potential theft or improper handling.
The man under investigation is also facing questions about theft and the legitimacy of hospital supplies found at the home, as no clear legal origin for some items was established. Source attribution is noted within official records.
