A 37-year-old man, a Spanish national, lost his life in a traffic crash that occurred on a Wednesday in Monóvar. The incident also left two people from the Netherlands seriously injured.
The collision happened shortly before three thirty in the afternoon at kilometer 9.3 on the CV-83 road, within the municipality of Monóvar. Two vehicles collided head on, and one of the drivers, a 37-year-old, died at the scene despite the arrival of emergency medical services, who could not save him.
In the other vehicle were two Dutch nationals. The regional emergency coordination center, CICU, activated a SAMU medical team, which attended to a 53-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man. Both suffered polytraumas and fractures, and were stabilized at the scene before transport.
A helicopter from the Valencian Community Health Emergency Service, known as SESCV, airlifted the female patient to the Hospital del Vinalopó in Elche, while the SAMU crew evacuated the male patient to the Hospital de Elda for ongoing care.
The Traffic Civil Guard is handling the police report and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the frontal impact. The ongoing investigation aims to establish the sequence of events and any contributing factors in the crash.
Later in the day, around 7:30 p.m., another accident occurred at a roundabout on the entrance to Alicante, accessed via the University Avenue. Local police and two emergency vehicles from SAMU and Basic Life Support attended the scene to assist a motorist and to control traffic flow.
The motorcyclist appeared to have lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a very serious head injury. Emergency medical teams were on site, providing stabilization with the goal of transporting him to a hospital for urgent care. The response involved rapid coordination to secure the patient and manage the roundabout through traffic control.
