He is a repeat offender and a danger. On July 12, the National Police arrested a 52-year-old Spanish man. They had been tracking him for some time because he was a robbery suspect at a gambling hall. He worked in the towns of Alcalá de Henares and Torrejón de Ardoz, as well as in Guadalajara.
Police sources say that the suspect watched the area before the attack. He chose places where women worked. He would threaten employees with knives in empty rooms.
He has a lot of police records, mostly for property crimes, and he is considered responsible for seven robberies. For all these reasons, he has already been taken to court and sent to prison.
The investigation began in early June when reports of several robberies in gambling halls in different parts of the Community of Madrid were received. After looking at all the documents, the officers thought it could be the same person because of how it was done. The man would go into the building wearing dark clothes and talk to the employees, who were always women. He would act like he was a delivery man or someone from the fire extinguisher check.
Later, often armed with a knife, he would threaten the employees to open the safe and cash register. He had already won more than 20,000 euros.
The police found that he sometimes gave them a note written by hand. The note said that he was part of a criminal group. This was to scare the victims. He told the women to do what he said, or he would come back. Sometimes, when his orders weren’t followed, he got violent. One time, he even slammed a woman hard against the counter, hurting her.
On another occasion, during a robbery in Alcalá de Henares, he locked the employee in the restroom to ensure his escape. In this city, he committed two robberies within just 30 minutes of each other. Police confirmed that this man was responsible for seven robberies. Five of these robberies happened in Alcalá de Henares, one in Torrejón de Ardoz, and one in Guadalajara.
On the day of his arrest, more than €2,000 in cash, three cell phones, a machete, and various narcotics were seized at his home.
