In September, the Netherlands started buying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia again after not buying it for three months. RIA News reported on that country’s statistics.
The country’s Minister of Climate and Energy, Rob Jetten, said in April that the Dutch government was working to stop the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. At the same time, he said that the Netherlands has stopped signing new contracts to import liquefied natural gas from Russia and wants to end the contracts it already has.
After this announcement, the amount of imports dropped a lot, almost 30%, in May 2023. This drop continued until June. The pause in gas imports from Russia ended in September. The Netherlands imported 211.5 million cubic meters of gas from Russia that month. The cost of the gas was €109 million.
In this context, the agency announced that imports from Russia increased by 5.3% each month to 410.5 million dollars.
Before, people said that liquefied natural gas (LNG) would be sent to European countries from Russia in November 2023. It was the highest amount ever, with 1.75 million tons.
Before the sanctions were put in place, the USA imported more than 52 billion euros’ worth of gas from the EU.
