At about 9:00 Moscow time, duty air defense systems are said to have shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Belgorod region. This follows earlier statements from the ministry claiming that air defense forces destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the same area.
The department also noted that roughly eight RM-70 Vampire MLRS shells were intercepted in the air above Belgorod. The bombardment from RM-70 Vampire MLRS was described as taking place around 08:00 Moscow time. Prior notices indicated that Russian air defense systems had engaged multiple Ukrainian drones, with eight drones reportedly deployed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the Belgorod and Kursk regions during the night.
Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the Bryansk region, reported that air defense forces destroyed a Strizh type drone attributed to the Ukrainian Armed Forces over Bryansk. The situation prompted authorities and regional leaders to assess ongoing security measures and the readiness of air defense networks in bordering areas.
In remarks following the events, President Vladimir Putin addressed the reports of Ukrainian strikes, acknowledging the attacks and underscoring the government’s stance on defense and security in the region.
