The Bashkiria case involves a guardian accused of abusing his granddaughters and failing to provide safe care

The Bashkiria prosecutor’s office has confirmed that a criminal case has been opened against a local guardian who allegedly mistreated his two granddaughters. The confirmation came through the district attorney’s press service, which stated that the suspect, who has cared for his granddaughters born in 2012 and 2014, subject them to abuse, confinement, and neglect during the first half of 2022. According to the announcement, the guardian reportedly beat the children, kept them locked in a basement, and consumed alcohol in the presence of the minors. The investigation further indicates that the caregiver failed to provide adequate nutrition or proper supervision during January through June 2022, contributing to a pattern of deficient care that raised serious safety concerns for the children.

The department described the living conditions as unsanitary and noted that the household was largely child-centered, with the grandchildren shouldering most of the domestic chores. The lack of adequate care and the evident neglect culminated in the removal of the children from the family home and placement in a specialized orphanage. The guardian eventually acknowledged mistreating the grandchildren, and the criminal case has been sent to the court for a full merits review and adjudication.

Earlier reporting mentioned a separate case involving a Perm resident who allegedly assaulted her son, resulting in a broken nose after the boy stood up for his mother. While this incident is unrelated to the Bashkiria case, it underscores concerns about family violence and the protection of children in various regions.
