Housing has become the centerpiece of current public debate. The sector faces the challenge of delivering clear, practical answers to both the market and society, since construction is no longer a single, isolated variable. Accordingly, the Mediterranean Forum will examine the theme “Sustainable Housing Challenges” this coming Monday, May 27, starting at 6:00 PM at the Club Information, guided by a panel of expert professionals. For this edition, Prensa Ibérica, the promoter of the initiative, collaborates with TM Grupo Inmobiliario, Vectalia, Aligrupo, Aedas Homes, and the Goya Real Estate group.
The event will be opened by the Second Vice President and Counselor of Social Services, Equality and Housing of the Valencian Government, Susana Camarero. Next, Paloma Taltavull, commissioner of the Forum’s council and Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Alicante, will present the main conclusions of the report she led with a team of experts, focusing on sustainable housing.
Around 6:30 PM, the forum will become a hub of specialists addressing strategic aspects of the sector through a series of talks. First, Sergio Vidal, CEO of Real Estate Goya, concentrates on the topic of Senior Living. He will be followed by Cristóbal Ruiz, Urban Planning Director at TM Grupo Inmobiliario, who will discuss land scarcity. Subsequently, Jorge Olcina, Professor of Geographical Analysis at the University of Alicante, will connect the effects of climate change with housing development, and José Antonio Izquierdo, General Director of Alibuilding, will offer insights into housing taxation.
In a second block, the editor of INFORMACIÓN, Toni Cabot, will discuss how these factors shape the real estate market. He will be joined by architect Elena Argilés; TM Grupo Inmobiliario’s Urban Planning Director Cristóbal Ruiz; Sergio Vidal, CEO of Real Estate Goya; Rafael Ballester, a planning lawyer and partner at Pérez Segura; Isabel Giménez-Zuriaga, economist and General Director of the Foundation for Stock and Financial Studies; and Juan López, the Levante and Balearic Islands regional director for AEDAS Homes.
To conclude the forum, a dialog will explore two analytical perspectives on the rental market. The professor from UA and Forum commissioner will share the stage with Laura Fernández, General Director of the Association of Rental Property Owners (Asval). The exchanging of views will illuminate how rental policies interact with supply, demand, and regulatory frameworks, offering attendees a comprehensive view of current trends and future expectations in the housing sector.
