Laboratorios Suavinex, a cosmetics and childcare products manufacturer based in Alicante, reported a 5% rise in sales last year, reaching 22 million euros. The company also changed ownership, with the French multinational Peek A Boo acquiring a majority stake.
In 2022, Suavinex posted a turnover of 21.9 million euros, up from 20.8 million euros the year before, according to filings with the Trade Register.
Operating results stood at 245,155 euros, while there was a negative pre-tax balance of 165,562 euros. This contrasted with a pre-tax figure of 397,637 euros in the current year, compared with 27,865 euros in 2021.
In its management report, Suavinex highlights stronger activity driven by higher demand within the company and the larger group. The document also outlines growth scenarios for revenues and profits over the coming years as part of its strategic plans.
Nevertheless, the report cautions about the challenges posed by a fragile international environment. It notes the ongoing economic impact of the pandemic and the heightened uncertainty caused by the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Given market volatility and inflation pressures, the report suggests that the 2023 operating outlook will depend on factors such as price movements for raw materials and components and the broader global economic response and resilience of market participants.
Masks and gels slow the impact of covid on Suavinex accounts
However, drawing on last year’s experience and the firm’s operating model, the management team does not anticipate events that would significantly affect operations, liquidity, or asset valuations in the near term.
The presented accounts mark the first submission to the Business Registry under the new ownership structure. The majority stake acquisition by Peek A Boo was formalized in late 2022, with Peek A Boo being part of the French multinational family backed by the British fund Bluegem.
During the transaction, officials stated that Suavinex would continue to operate as an independent brand within the Peek A Boo group. The group also includes Béaba, a leading name in premium baby care and personal care products in France, and Belgium-based Childhome, which brings substantial experience in the childcare sector.
