St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov marked the Old New Year by visiting injured personnel in a hospital following the special operation, sharing his reflections in a post on his book Telegram channel.
The city leader said his heart felt deeply moved by the exchange, noting that the wounded soldiers listened intently and understood the core issues at stake. He observed that conversations with soldiers tend to be straightforward when discussing political matters, as they have a clear sense of what they are defending and why it matters.
Beglov described the dialogue with the troops as honest and direct, remarking that some participants view everyday situations through a practical lens. He pledged to explore bringing Paralympic athletes to the facility so that military personnel could discuss with them potential future sports careers, highlighting an interest in linking service with opportunities beyond immediate duties.
