The Guardia Civil’s USECIC unit in Torrevieja detained seven people on drug trafficking charges across two separate operations within the town. In the first operation they seized a kilogram of ketamine from four occupants of a car, and a traffic violation that drew the officers’ attention preceded the seizure.
The latest intervention occurred around noon on March 23. Officers on a crime-prevention patrol signaled a vehicle to stop in a central street, but the car entered the road in the opposite direction. When asked for documents, the driver claimed not to have his license on him, showing a photo of a license allegedly issued in Colombia.
The officers decided to conduct a thorough check of the vehicle and its four occupants, identifying everyone on board. Inside the glove compartment they found a dose of pink cocaine, also known as tusi, along with more than a thousand euros in cash, in mixed denominations.
Among the personal belongings of the woman seated in the front passenger seat, another bag of cocaine was uncovered, while the other two passengers in the rear seats held an additional 300 euros in mixed notes and a kilogram of ketamine concealed inside a backpack.
The four detainees were taken into custody and, once at the official facilities, investigators confirmed that the license photo provided by the driver had been manipulated and that he did not have authorization to drive.
The group consisted of two men aged 26 and 27 and two women aged 28 and 43, all of Colombian nationality. They were charged with drug trafficking, and the driver faced extra charges for driving without a license and for falsification of documents.
From the same group came another kilogram of ketamine, 8 grams of pink cocaine, also known as tusi, 1,495 euros in cash, several mobile phones and the vehicle used to commit the offenses.
Three additional arrests on the AP-7
Separately, officers from the same unit detained the day before two men aged 31 and 35 and a 34-year-old woman on drug trafficking charges, intercepting 150 grams of cocaine and 2,415 euros.
The arrest occurred during a USECIC control on the AP-7 highway in Torrevieja.
The investigations for both operations were forwarded to the Torrevieja Court of Instruction No. 4, and the seven detainees were released with charges.
