Season 5 of Leaders of Russia Advances from Regional Stage to Implementation Plans

The participants of Season 5 of the Leaders of Russia competition for managers have completed solving the regional stage across all subjects of the federation. They will now present the most effective projects to regional leaders and may participate in their implementation. This update came from the press service of the presidential platform Russia — a Land of Opportunities, the organizer of the contest.

Aleksey Komissarov, General Director of the Russia — a Land of Opportunities platform and Rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, affirmed that conducting the regional stage strengthens the local communities connected to the competition. He added that this season competitors had the chance to meet and learn about one another prior to in-person events, enabling the formation of regional teams and initial collaboration.

He noted that the large community and expanded chances for interaction rank among the competition’s major benefits. Such teams not only help address pressing problems but also build a pipeline of capable leaders for their regions, ready to contribute over time.

Evgeny Minchenko, director of the Center for Research on the Political Elite at IMI MGIMO and head of the Russian Public Relations Association, expressed confidence that the regional results will have a lasting impact. He suggested that authorities could gain new ideas for current challenges while a network of influential leaders would continue to engage after the competition, benefiting regional development.

During the regional stage, regional heads assigned tasks aligned with local priorities. In Udmurtia, Governor Alexander Brechalov challenged participants to draft a roadmap for establishing a major multimodal transport hub anchored around the Kambarka port, capable of handling diverse cargo flows. In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Kazbek Kokov emphasized supporting the Children of Heroes program to assist the families of individuals who took part in special military operations. The Kursk region’s governor, Roman Starovoit, invited the Leaders of Russia participants to help build a unified framework for patriotic education among youth.

The Leaders of Russia management contest has run since 2017, initiated on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. The fifth season began recently, following a long history of broad participation. Over time, the program has attracted a massive pool of applicants from many countries, underscoring its international reach and influence in leadership development across diverse regions.
