TVE introduced the song Loviu, the piece Sandra Valero will perform to represent Spain at the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Nice, France, on November 26. Following strong public interest from Eurofan, the video clip was unveiled last Tuesday as a presentation piece for the candidacy.
In the clip, Sandra appears as a traveler eager to explore the world, its diverse cultures, and languages, accompanied by friends. The visuals are bright and lively, shifting between Sandra’s dream-filled room adorned with motivational messages and imaginative locations visited on a fantastical journey. The sequence pairs energetic dance moments with colorful costume changes, creating a sense of exploration and joy.
Shooting the video clip was described as a lot of fun, with Sandra playful about a few clumsy moments that even led to a few set mishaps. The delegation head noted that the clip complements the song perfectly and was produced with a Spanish company, promising viewers a project they will enjoy.
Sandra is supported on screen by Blanca Miralles, Nayeli Ruiz, Mario Falero and Jesús Montero, the same artists who contributed to the studio version of Loviu. They joined the team again for this year’s selection to choose Spain’s Junior Eurovision candidate, with RTVE expressing gratitude for the excitement and offering them the chance to participate in the nomination process.
Directed by Jimmy Llamas, the video marks the director’s long-standing engagement with visuals, dating back to his first projects at age fourteen. He has since crafted numerous clips for artists including Edurne, Melendi, Lori Meyers, Antonio José, Twin Melody, Viva, Sweden, and Vanesa Martín, bringing a versatile touch to Loviu.
Dance plays a central role in Loviu, with Vicky Gomez returning to lead the choreography after guiding Soleá in 2020, Levy Díaz in 2021, and Carlos Higes in 2022. Vicky highlights Sandra’s ability to act and improvise before the camera, noting her comfort and expressive presence as key strengths.
