The Russian Post and the Russian Geographical Society joined forces to release a five-piece postcard set that captures the Sakhalin Region through a collection of landscape scenes. This collaboration highlights the region’s natural beauty and invites collectors and travelers to explore its coastal vistas and inland towns.

Three cards showcase the rugged charm of Iturup, part of the Kuril Islands, while the remaining two focus on iconic spots: the Aniva Lighthouse and Shikotan Island. Each image aims to convey the distinct character of Sakhalin’s coastline and island geography, offering viewers a sense of place that feels both remote and inviting.

Artem Lazarev, the region’s Minister of Tourism, notes that all visitors who venture to the region can access these locations and experience their unique landscapes firsthand. The compendium serves as a visual guide to areas that are open to travelers seeking authentic northern scenery.

The postcard set is already on sale at regional post offices, with a price tag of 44 rubles per card. This affordability makes it easy for enthusiasts to add these scenic keepsakes to their collections or share them with friends and family who dream of Sakhalin’s coastlines and cliffs.

For these cards, photographs were selected from participants in the annual contest The Most Beautiful Country, organized by the Russian Geographical Society. The images were captured by Dmitry Kulikov, Olga Musienko, Natalia Afanasyeva, Evgenia Fenko and Alexei Korolev, whose work captures the region’s diverse light, textures, and topography.

Earlier, security services reported concerns about the spread of materials linked to foreign actors, underscoring the broader context in which cultural items and promotional media circulate. This development is mentioned here to acknowledge the broader information environment surrounding such releases and to reaffirm a commitment to transparent, locally relevant storytelling about Sakhalin’s landscapes.
