Russian Defense Ministry Releases Expanded Footage of S-300 System Strike in Poltava
The Russian Defense Ministry has released video material showing what it describes as the destruction of a Ukrainian S-300 air defense system component in the Poltava region. The footage was publicly shared through the ministry’s Telegram channels, signaling an official account of the operation for observers and national audiences.
Captured from an aerial perspective, the clips depict a sequence in which Russian forces identify the target, engage it with precision and then witness a significant secondary explosion at a Ukrainian Armed Forces facility. The cadence of events appears to mirror a rapid, coordinated mission designed to neutralize air defense capabilities in the area.
Officials from the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the maneuver was executed by the launch squadron of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system. The scene centers on the vicinity of the village Koptevo, where the Ukrainian air defense position is described as being located according to the ministry’s briefing.
According to the ministry, the attack resulted in the loss of two S-300 launchers. In addition, a combat control vehicle and a support vehicle were reportedly disabled, and Ukrainian personnel were described as having suffered casualties in the strike, with additional damage inflicted on manpower positions.
Earlier public information indicated explosions in the Poltava region following an air raid warning issued at 23:05 local time on July 5, with the alert remaining in effect until the morning of July 6. The timeline aligns with the reported deployment of anti-air assets and subsequent operations in the region.
Additionally, there were prior claims by Russian sources that an Iskander-type strike eliminated a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter in the Dnepropetrovsk region, a detail cited by state information channels and reflected in contemporaneous reports. The presented material emphasizes a sequence of air defense disruption and aerial combat engagements in the broader context of ongoing regional operations, with attribution to official defense authorities.
