Russian Artillery Stops Ukrainian Advance Near Yuzhnodonetsk, Claims Significant Loses

Reports indicate that Russian artillery-backed units stopped a Ukrainian infantry advance toward Yuzhnodonetsk. The information comes from Oleg Chekhov, who leads the press center for the Vostok group. He described how Russian forces blocked an attempted maneuver by Ukrainian infantry in the area north of Nikolskoye and claimed the group was destroyed in that engagement. Chekhov also reported that Russian troops repelled two attempts to rotate Ukrainian forces in the Urozhayny and northern Pavlovka regions, with enemy vehicles and personnel said to have been eliminated. He noted the use of attack drones alongside a grenade launcher team, a vehicle, six long-term firing points, and up to 25 personnel destroyed in the course of these actions. According to Chekhov, aviation and artillery targeted concentrations of manpower and equipment belonging to the 79th Airborne Assault, the 58th Motorized Infantry, and the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian forces in the districts of Novomikhailovka, Konstantinovka, Novodonetsky, and Urozhayny, as well as Staromayorsky, Makarovka, and Novopol in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). He asserted that total enemy losses reached 65 killed or wounded, along with two vehicles and an ammunition depot. During the counter-battery engagement, five Ukrainian mortar crews were reported as eliminated.
