The most popular summer vacation destinations for Russians include the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, and St. Petersburg. These insights come from a report cited by TASS, which drew on data from 2GIS Othello’s hotel reservation service. The findings reveal a clear pattern in where people intend to spend their warm months, outlining preferences that reveal a preference for domestic travel during the peak of the season.
The agency notes that about two-thirds of respondents—roughly 65 percent—plan to travel within Russia this summer. In contrast, only a small portion, around 13 percent, intend to travel abroad. This tilt toward domestic tourism underscores the importance of local destinations and the role of regional experiences in the seasonal travel plans of many Russians.
When it comes to specific regional choices, the report shows a strong concentration of holiday plans. About one-third of those staying within Russia are set to spend their holidays in the Krasnodar Territory, while the Crimea ranks as the second most favored destination with about 18 percent. St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region attract around 16 percent, and a noticeable share—roughly 13 percent—intends to enjoy holidays in Moscow and the Moscow region. These figures paint a picture of a country where the south, the sea coast, and major urban centers hold broad appeal for summer getaways.
A very small segment, about 1 percent, plans to visit Kamchatka, highlighting that while some travelers chase remote, nature-filled adventures, they remain a minority within the broader domestic travel tapestry for the season.
In related findings, a previous SuperJob survey highlighted gender-based differences in vacation choices. It showed that Russian women were more inclined toward sea trips as a summer option, whereas men tended to prefer staying closer to home. Additionally, one in six Russians identified an ocean voyage or a sea trip as the best type of vacation, underscoring a strong affinity for coastal escapes among a notable portion of the population.
