Russia Awards Courage to Female Defenders After Drone Raid Interception in Sevastopol
In Sevastopol, at the Crimean naval base of the Black Sea Fleet, female service members received the Order of Courage for their role in repelling an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. The ceremony acknowledged the swift and disciplined actions taken by those on duty as the threat approached the base on the roads near Sevastopol harbor. The award, presented by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, honors acts of bravery in the face of danger and recognizes the valor shown under fire in defense of Russia’s navy.
The minister expressed gratitude for the exemplary conduct demonstrated by the soldiers. Officials stated that the award followed an incident around March 22 when the Ministry of National Defense reported an attempted terrorist assault aimed at ships belonging to the Black Sea Fleet as well as civilian vessels at the Sevastopol base. In that operation, senior sailor Marina Faleeva and chief foreman Tatyana Tseluiko identified and neutralized three unknown drones on a direct course toward the base, preventing potential damage or loss of life and preserving the security of critical maritime infrastructure.
In addition to the two awarded sailors, Captain 3rd Degree Vladimir Gorban, head of the mission service, received the same honor for participating in the destruction of hostile targets and contributing to the safety of naval operations in Sevastopol. The recognition highlights the collaborative effort of personnel across ranks who work together to defend strategic assets and ensure continued readiness of coastal defense forces.
