Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with Yury Zhulanov, a participant in the hostilities in Ukraine and a leader among those who have carried out shelling operations. The information was reported by the television channel Russia 24.
Zhulanov said, They connected us and spoke for a while. He was interested in how things unfolded, and he asked about my condition and the availability of medical support. The president also praised Zhulanov and indicated that he would be put forward for an award.
Previously, Vladimir Zhdanov, the commander of Belgorod and the Shestakovo area of Belgorod region, who had been under fire from Ukrainian forces, stated that on June 1 Putin contacted him and inquired about the help he needed. Zhdanov noted that he briefed the Commander-in-Chief about the ongoing situation, as well as future plans and actions.
The Kremlin press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that the head of state had made a call and that the necessary instructions were given after the meeting. Peskov emphasized that the exchange focused on current conditions and support requirements, and that the leadership oversight continued through direct communication with military and regional authorities.
