A landlord in Palma reported that a tenant who had not paid rent since last April sexually assaulted the landlord. After arriving at the door to discuss an agreement, the tenant allegedly touched the victim, kissed her, and licked her neck while attempting to take money from her pocket. The victim described the incident, after which National Police officers arrested the 40-year-old Peruvian national on the following Tuesday for alleged sexual assault, violent robbery, and harassment.
The events began when the landlord went to the rental property to request rent payment, a routine duty for any landlord. The landlord also sought to resolve the situation amicably. The tenant had failed to pay since last April, leading to a planned interim agreement in which the tenant would vacate the home. An argument ensued, and the tenant allegedly grabbed the landlord around the waist, searched a pocket for money, and then kissed and licked the victim’s neck.
During the encounter, the assailant allegedly touched the victim’s genitals, chest, and other parts of her body while attempting to drag her back inside the house. The victim managed to break free and sought safety with nearby bystanders, who helped to deter the attacker and asked him to leave the area.
Pursuits and night discomfort
Following the initial incident, the assailant reportedly pursued the victim with the intent of continuing the assault. The victim became aware of the threat and tried to limit her movement. Throughout the night, the attacker is said to have made repeated, anonymous phone calls to the victim, claiming to be a police officer and urging her to return to the tenant’s home.
Investigators from the National Police Western Police Station were alerted by the victim and took charge of the case. Their inquiry culminated in the arrest of the suspect on the following Tuesday, who faces multiple charges related to sexual assault, violent robbery, and harassment.
