A sixth-grade student in Omsk was hospitalized after a plaster cast fell on his head during class, according to the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia by region.
Officials say the incident occurred in a city school on November 10. A plaster piece from the ceiling struck the student, who had previously sustained a traumatic brain injury, and he was taken to the emergency department for urgent care.
The ministry confirmed that an investigation has begun to determine all the details and circumstances surrounding the event.
Investigators are carrying out a scene inspection and will assess the actions of the officials involved, applying the legal framework for negligence under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, based on the findings of this inquiry.
