A recent study by the Repair with SberServices service and YuKassa analysts, reviewed by socialbites.ca, shows that nearly half of Russians believe the office setting influences work efficiency. Specifically, 45 percent say being in the office boosts productivity, while twice as many feel the office raises productivity as those who think it reduces it. A further 36 percent note no connection between efficiency and workplace location, and 18 percent are unsure due to a lack of comparison. These findings highlight how people assess their work environment and how it shapes their performance. Source: Repair with SberServices and YuKassa analysts.

For the majority, interior design and the physical workspace are important factors when evaluating a job. Forty-five percent regard the workspace as one of the most important considerations during job search. Thirty-one percent agree that it matters but is not critical. In contrast, 17 percent rank salary above working conditions, and 7 percent pay little or no attention to workplace aesthetics. These attitudes underscore how location, layout, and atmosphere weigh against compensation in the decision process. Source: Repair with SberServices and YuKassa analysts.

The workplace is described as more than a desk and chair. It is a space where people spend a substantial portion of their day to complete tasks and reach goals. A well-arranged workspace can noticeably boost productivity, lift mood, and reduce stress. Recommendations include choosing comfortable furniture, such as an adjustable desk that supports both sitting and standing, and, when feasible, situating the desk near a window to leverage natural light for mood and performance gains. If lighting is limited, a quality desk lamp or floor lamp becomes essential. Organizers and drawers help maintain order and enable quick retrieval of documents and supplies. Personal taste should influence the setup so that individuals feel at ease in their environment. These insights come from Polina Tsvetkova, project manager of Repair with SberServices. When choosing a workplace, respondents point to several crucial factors. The most valued are travel time to the office, cited by 87 percent, and a convenient workspace, noted by 83 percent. Modern equipment is important for half of respondents, while good lighting matters to 45 percent. About one-third, 32 percent, report having access to adequate stationery, and 26 percent mention the presence of recreation areas. These preferences reveal how logistics and amenities influence both daily comfort and long-term engagement. Source: Repair with SberServices and YuKassa analysts.

The design and atmosphere of the workspace attract 18 percent of respondents, with a nice and comfortable kitchen drawing 15 percent. Less emphasized factors include outdoor space at 7 percent, a gym at 5 percent, fresh flowers at 4 percent, and a terrace or veranda at 3 percent. Six percent mention other features such as quiet zones, desk location, and air conditioning. These varied priorities show how a holistic environment—beyond mere functionality—impacts overall satisfaction with a workplace. Source: Repair with SberServices and YuKassa analysts.

The organization of the workplace is increasingly seen as a key driver of productivity and comfort. Attention to details such as fresh flowers, seating areas, and stationery is advised. In July 2024, YuKassa reported a notable expansion in online sales of office supplies, with a 40 percent year-over-year rise in turnover, an 8 percent increase in purchases, a 21 percent rise in buyers, and a 29 percent jump in average spend to 6,718 rubles. On a month-over-month basis, June to July 2024 also showed growth across these indicators, including a 23 percent rise in turnover, a 5 percent increase in purchases, a 4 percent uptick in customers, and a 17 percent higher average check. These figures highlight how the procurement side of the office environment reflects broader workplace engagement and spending trends. Source: Repair with SberServices and YuKassa analysts.

Russians are also reconsidering the idea of sticking to a single career for life, suggesting a shift toward more flexible, diverse professional paths. The evolving view on career longevity aligns with broader regional and global conversations about adapting work arrangements to changing preferences and opportunities.
