Nova Kakhovka Mayor Details Water Rise After Dam Event

The mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev, conveyed to reporters that after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station began operating, the highest water level reached 12 meters. Administration of the Novokakhovsk city district.

He stated, “The maximum water rise is 12 meters. There is no electricity or water in the settlements, and residents have fled on their own accord.”

Leontiev added that the water is expected to recede within a few days.

Moreover, the head of the administration noted that the incident caused damage to the turbine hall, which Leontiev emphasized had been Ukraine’s strategic target for a year. He also pointed out that only Russian soldiers were present at the plant during the attack on the facility.

Leontiev described the most alarming consequence as the destruction at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. He called the damage a disaster engineered by Ukrainian authorities and their handlers.

Officials in Kiev have not issued public comments on the incident. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council to assess the situation and coordinate responses.
