A 52-year-old man connected to the National Police faced a court in Alicante where seven thousand files involving young people were cited as part of a case on sexual exploitation and child pornography. The court issued a sentence of two years in prison for disseminating child pornography, while granting a stay of execution so the sentence would not be immediately enforceable. The decision followed an agreement reached between the defense and the prosecution during the trial, which also included a provision that the defendant, who had no prior criminal record, must abstain from committing any crime during a four-year probation period. If the terms are violated, the stay could be canceled and the original punishment reinstated.

The person in question was taken into custody for security reasons from May 28, 2022 to June 7 of the same year. The sentencing facts show evidence gathered by the Central Cyber Crime Unit that indicated the individual downloaded numerous files depicting minors in sexual activities. Many of these files were exchanged through a peer-to-peer network, illustrating a broader pattern of distribution.
Authorities obtained judicial authorization to search the suspect’s home in Canastell, San Vicente del Raspeig. On May 6, 2022, investigators searched the residence and seized a computer, twenty-one hard drives, two memory sticks, and an external power unit containing three additional drives.
Within the storage unit, investigators uncovered thousands of files with pornographic content involving minors. Seven DVDs labeled with an acronym associated with preteen pornography were also found, as described in the court record.
In total, the seizure included 5,347 photographs and 1,668 videos identified as child pornography. A number of these files were shared by other users via the eMule network, and several depicted degrading treatment. One entry in the case notes the presence of a file showing sexual activity with an animal. The court confirmed that the identities of the minors and the locations where the material was recorded were not visible in the images.
The prosecutor initially sought a longer sentence, but the parties reached a negotiated agreement that reduced the term from seven years to two. The defendant pleaded guilty during the hearing, resulting in a two-year prison term and a five-year period of supervised release. In addition, the defendant was prohibited from any profession or activity involving regular or direct contact with minors for fifteen years.
