Police and scientific investigators searched the beach flat from 11 a.m. on Friday morning. The residence, owned by C. Alfonso López Benito, an 80-year-old retiree described as connected to Valencia Cathedral, was the scene of a fatal shooting at the Archbishop’s apartment on Avellanas Street, where the man lived.
Investigators aim to uncover evidence and trace the movements of individuals who may have had access to the apartment, hoping to resolve the priest’s death. A 40-year-old man identified as Miguel VN has been in custody since January 27, accused of the homicide and the use of his phone and bank cards in connection with the crime.
According to early reports, the apartment had been used in the past for various purposes, including as a place where a group of people, mostly under 40 and facing social and economic challenges, would gather. The conflicting accounts describe a mixture of relationships and activities, some involving encounters of a sexual nature arranged within the residence.
As the investigation advances, additional details suggest the driver and an assistant connected to the deceased may have been present at the apartment. The person at the center of the case is currently in custody as investigators pursue leads about the incident, which reportedly occurred last August. The space is roughly 120 square meters and was purchased for around 130,000 euros.
The search warrant was issued to gather more evidence concerning the passage of individuals through the apartment and to determine whether more than one person might be involved in the crime.

A younger man with a documented disability, who traveled from a distant residence with help paid in instalments, reportedly spent a weekend in the apartment, raising questions about his role and the dynamics at the scene.
The younger witness has described a night they shared in the residence that involved a brief sexual encounter. The assistant indicated that the person described did not suffer medical attention after the sequence of events. The deceased was said to have driven vehicles in the past, including models such as the Opel Karl, which forms part of the broader narrative under investigation.
