Forecasts from Evgeny Tishkovets of the Phobos meteorological center indicate a warming trend for Moscow on Thursday, November 1, with daytime temperatures reaching as high as 14°C. This assessment comes from a regional update provided to RIA News.

At present, Moscow is experiencing a January-style thaw that is expected to deepen before the weekend settles in. The pattern suggests rain will ease by the evening of October 30, followed by a noticeable lift in temperatures. Overnight into October 31, temperatures may range from 2°C to 7°C, while daytime values are projected to climb to 5°C to 10°C, signaling a mild spell for late autumn in the capital.

Tishkovets stressed that the overall peak in temperature is anticipated on November 1, with Muscovites possibly seeing daytime highs between 9°C and 14°C. Such warmth could challenge or even surpass the city’s historical records, with the 1934 mark of +12.6°C standing as a potential target to surpass under the current pattern.

Alexander Shuvalov, a former head of the Meteo forecast center, noted a shift in conditions later in the week. He described an upcoming transition from milder weather to a sequence of freezing rain and stronger winds sweeping through Moscow, contrasting sharply with the recent warm spell. He also warned that the city could experience a brief period of what some commentators term as an “African heat” and an unusual overnight warmth for late autumn as the system moves through.

According to the forecast, the so-called “African” heat is expected to retreat on Thursday, after which temperatures will drop to between 6°C and 9°C. In addition to the cooler air, short periods of rain are anticipated, and atmospheric pressure is forecast to rise to roughly 747–749 mmHg by Friday night, signaling a shift toward a cooler and more unsettled regime for the capital.

These updates come as medical guidance notes that colder weather can influence health conditions, particularly for individuals with chronic illnesses. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of staying warm, monitoring temperature changes, and preparing homes and vehicles for rapidly changing conditions as the season evolves. Citizens are advised to plan outdoor activities with the forecast in mind, ensuring proper layering and traction for walking surfaces when precipitation returns and the air turns brisk.
