In Moscow, on June 2, 2022, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs assigned to the Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo district was detained. Investigators say this person aided more than 1,500 migrants in registering illegally, according to a law enforcement source cited by RIA Novosti.
By the end of 2021, investigators opened a criminal case under the charge of regulating illegal immigration. The probe found that unidentified individuals had used false documents to register over 1,500 foreigners with the immigration office.
Authorities believe the suspect illegally facilitated the registration of a large number of migrants between January and July 2021, receiving an undisclosed sum of money in return for their actions.
The employee is currently under investigation. If guilt is established, disciplinary measures, including dismissal, would be taken, and the matter would be prosecuted under the applicable laws.
Reports indicate there were additional cases of abuse within law enforcement in the region, including allegations involving financial misconduct connected to involvement with non-local individuals. The authorities emphasize that such misconduct undermines public trust and the integrity of policing institutions. The investigation continues as officials review broader patterns and potential links to other cases.
