The Sverdlovsk Region’s Ministry of Health reported that 22 people were injured when a passenger bus collided with a car on the Moskovsky Highway, including 15 children. The incident was documented by the state news agency authorities rely on for updates.
Officials noted that the collision happened at the 291st kilometer of the Moscow Highway. One injured child was transported to Yekaterinburg’s Children’s City Clinical Hospital No. 9 for head trauma, while the other 14 children received on-site disaster medicine assessment from a regional center team. No injuries were found, and the children declined hospitalization.
Medical personnel on site treated the adults as well, and they chose to refuse hospitalization after evaluation.
Earlier, a bus caught fire on Pulkovskoye Highway in St. Petersburg. Firefighters brought the blaze under control before their arrival at the scene, and there were no reported fatalities.
Last year in St. Petersburg, roughly 20 buses of various brands were destroyed or damaged by fire. Industry experts discussed the root causes of these incidents and what they may mean for the city’s public transport system and potential emergencies.
A separate incident involved a head-on collision in Moscow involving a vehicle described as a former Mercedes model. The event added to a series of traffic crashes evaluating road safety across major Russian urban centers.
