A man has been detained in Zizur Mayor, Navarra, after a shooting that unfolded in Santa Cruz square around 8:30 p.m. this Wednesday. A second man suffered serious injuries and was evacuated to a nearby hospital, prompting a rapid response from local authorities.
Authorities from the Municipal Police of Zizur Mayor and the Foral Police have arrested a man identified as the alleged shooter, who used a revolver to wound another man in what witnesses describe as a violent incident on the public square. The injured individual was transported to the University Hospital of Navarra for urgent medical care, with updates on his condition provided by police sources.
Initial investigations point to the possibility of a personal dispute escalating into violence, with authorities considering the event as a potential settling of scores rather than a random attack.
The detained suspect was also taken to the medical facility for evaluation before being moved to police facilities. After receiving medical clearance, he will be placed in custody and handed over to judicial authorities for further proceedings.
Residents and passersby in the vicinity of the square, a district near Pamplona, immediately alerted the Municipal Police after hearing gunfire. In response, multiple emergency units were mobilized, including patrols from SOS Navarra, the Foral Police, and medical teams who arrived to assist at the scene.
