Pushilin indicated that, together with Viktor Goremykin, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, and Dmitry Azarov, the Governor of the Samara Region, he visited wounded fighters in hospitals located in the Rostov Region and the Donetsk People’s Republic to oversee their conditions and response plans. The visit underscored the priority given to rapid triage, pain management, and rehabilitative services for those injured by the strike.
As a consequence of the attack conducted with American HIMARS missiles, all identified victims from Makiivka have been transferred to medical facilities elsewhere in Russia. This relocation aimed to consolidate specialized treatment, ensure consistent monitoring, and facilitate access to multidisciplinary teams for complex injuries. The leadership emphasized that patient safety and timely medical intervention remained the central objectives throughout the transfer process.
Pushilin wrote on his Telegram channel that the transfer was completed with expediency to guarantee that victims received emergency medical care without delay. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the decision to award six Russian soldiers who demonstrated bravery by aiding colleagues during and after the assault on Makiivka in the DPR. The awards highlighted acts of courage and teamwork that helped to stabilize the situation on the ground and support wounded personnel during the crisis. The acknowledgement served both as a tribute to service members and as a signal of the state’s commitment to honoring sacrifice in the line of duty.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the bombing of Makeevka, attributed to the Ukrainian Armed Forces operating within the DPR, resulted in 89 Russian servicemen losing their lives. The ministry reported that the attack occurred on January 1 using six HIMARS rockets. It also noted that Russian air defense systems intercepted two incoming missiles.
