A Madrid judge is investigating an elementary teacher for alleged sexual abuse of a small group of girls taught at San Agustín’s subsidized school in the capital, located in the Chamartín district, according to legal sources cited by EFE.
The school reported concerns last December after hearing the minors’ testimonies. The complainant filed a case with Investigation Court No. 5 in Madrid, and the teacher was immediately suspended from the center.
The individual under investigation has not been arrested and served as the teacher of the class in which the girls studied, with alleged abuse reportedly occurring under his supervision.
The minors provided their accounts to other teachers who then contacted the school on November 30. The next day, the matter was escalated to the Community of Madrid Education Council and the school’s legal counsel, as the institution stated in its communications to EFE, while examining possible legal action against the teacher.
Following the initial steps, the teacher was removed from the center, first with a month of paid leave and then through definitive dismissal.
The investigating judge opened a file in the pretrial stage, indicating that the inquiry has just begun.
Now the judge suggests that the families of alleged victims, who appeared in the proceedings, join the school in bringing a formal accusation against the professor who is the subject of the investigation.
The school emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy toward this type of sexual violence and aims to ensure that affected minors are supported and kept calm throughout the process.
San Agustín school, which operates 17 campuses nationwide, is a Catholic education center affiliated with the Order of St. Augustine. It is situated on Father Damien Street, near the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
