A man was detained by local authorities after an isolated yet violent incident in the in the Botard neighborhood, according to a spokesperson for Madrid’s municipal police who spoke to Europa Press. The confrontation began in a residence on Maricara Street, located in the Villaverde district, last Thursday, during a moment when a woman found herself opposing an ex-partner who had come to argue with her. Inside the home two children, a 9-year-old and a 13-year-old, were present at the time of the incident.
Without warning, the man grabbed a knife and inflicted multiple cuts on the victim’s face and arms. The daughter intervened to shield her mother, who managed to flee the scene and seek refuge outside in a public park. There, she contacted emergency services for assistance. Throughout the incident, the attacker remained a danger to anyone nearby, and the immediate response focused on de‑escalation and securing the area.
A National Police patrol arrived in the vicinity and took the suspect into custody at a nearby bar, where he had been drinking. Authorities subsequently imposed a protective order to prevent any contact with the victim. He now faces charges that include grievous bodily harm, violation of a protective order, and violent robbery.
