Levantine is a leading name in the marble sector and part of a sizable, family-backed group. The company, backed by the Bybrook fund, has entered into a contract with EiDF Solar to execute two self‑consumption photovoltaic installations. The sites are located in Porriño, Galicia, and Novelda, and the project includes advisory support from the KPMG Return team to guide the finance and execution process.
With its headquarters in the Medio Vinalopó region, the Levantina and EiDF collaboration targets a 2 megawatt installation at each site, featuring 1650 solar panels on the roof. The expected annual output is about 2,529 MWh, which would cover roughly 22% of the energy needs of the respective facilities and demonstrate a significant step toward on-site power self-sufficiency in industrial settings.
The Porriño project is planned to reach a power level of 2.384 megawatts, positioning it as one of the most powerful self‑consumption systems implemented in the Galician community. Construction is slated to begin in the near term. The system will be composed of multiple installations that together amount to some 4,800 solar panels arranged in a coplanar layout on the factory roof, spanning more than 10,400 square meters. This scale reflects a broader push toward roof‑mounted solar that minimizes ground space use for industrial clients in the region.
Bybrook strengthens Levantina’s marble operations with an investment of 82.4 million euros, underscoring a long-term strategy to blend product quality with sustainable energy practices. Estimated production at full operation is around 2,671 megawatt hours per year, roughly the energy equivalent of what 717 average Spanish homes consume annually. The Levantina Group expects that about 30% of its energy needs will be met through solar energy produced on its own rooftops, reducing dependence on external grids and lowering operating costs over time. “The march toward on-site solar continues at our Porriño and Novelda facilities. This step helps us cut the carbon footprint associated with the production of our materials and offers clients a more sustainable product lineup. Levantina has long been a pioneer in issuing Environmental Declarations for its products and remains committed to ongoing sustainability improvements,” states Juan Dionis, CEO of Levantina. “Self-consumption is no longer a choice for companies; it is a necessity. Given today’s energy context and strong ESG criteria, organizations are moving toward cleaner, more responsible energy sources. The growing adoption of self-consumption across Spain marks just the beginning of a broader shift,” notes David Pintos, commercial director of EiDF. (Source: EiDF press release, 2024.)
