Drone Attack and Emergency Response in Kotovsk, Tambov Region
A state of emergency was declared in Kotovsk, a city in the Tambov region, after night-time drones linked to Ukrainian forces struck two apartment buildings. The report, drawn from the regional government press service and circulated by TASS, confirms that emergency measures were activated within city limits and that an operational headquarters was set up to coordinate the response across affected districts.
Windows of the two five-storey buildings were broken and their balconies damaged. Repairs are planned in the near future at the expense of the regional budget, with structural assessment teams scheduled to inspect the damage and guide the restoration work. Local authorities said that the plan includes ensuring safety for residents and restoring essential services as quickly as possible.
Deputy Governor Evgeniy Pervyshov reported seven people were affected by the incident: three injured by shards of broken glass and four suffering from elevated blood pressure due to the stress of the night. There were no hospitalizations, and medical facilities prepared to assist if any condition worsened, while emergency services provided on-site aid and monitoring.
Early morning updates from the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that air defense systems shot down 85 unmanned aerial vehicles over Russian territory overnight, including two in the Tambov region. The interception was described as part of ongoing protective measures designed to minimize risk to civilian infrastructure while authorities investigate the incident and review security logistics.
Previously residents of the Krasnodar Territory reported a massive drone attack, highlighting a broader pattern of drone activity across several regions. Officials cautioned residents to stay alert and to follow official guidance while protective measures and assessment teams operate to determine any broader implications for regional safety and resilience.
