The Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant, part of UAC Rostec and named after Gagarin, has delivered a fresh batch of Su-35S fighter jets to the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to Rostec’s press service via its Telegram channel. This move marks the completion of the 2023 delivery program for these high-end fighters and underscores the factory’s role in meeting state defense commitments.
Officials noted that the batch adheres to the established delivery schedule, with the plant continuing to operate to fulfill Russia’s defense orders. To ensure timely completion, workers at the aviation facility run three shifts, maintaining steady production momentum and coordination with military counterparts to support the Aerospace Forces with up-to-date capabilities.
The press service reported that the Su-35S, a versatile multi-role aircraft, underwent thorough ground and flight testing across a range of operating modes. After successful trials at the factory airfield, the jets were ferry-flown to their designated bases, ready for duty assignments in line with the Ministry of Defense plan.
Vladimir Artyakov, the first deputy general director of Rostec, highlighted the aircraft’s performance in real-world scenarios. The 4++ generation fighter is equipped with long-range air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons, alongside modern electronic countermeasures and defensive systems designed to enhance survivability and effectiveness in contemporary combat environments. This combination positions the Su-35S as a potent platform within Russia’s air combat and strategic strike capabilities.
Earlier communications indicated that the initial batches of Su-35S would pave the way for broader deployment in the coming years, with some discussions pointing to potential further fighter entries by 2025. This ongoing program reflects a sustained effort to modernize the air force through incremental, capability-focused acquisitions and continual upgrades to maintain air superiority and precision strike capacity.
