Isabel Suárez Case: Inheritance Fight and Questions Over a Madrid Death

Relatives led by Elizabeth Suarez and many neighbors believe the woman’s death is connected to the deceased’s money and property, possibly through poisoning. The judge appears to share that concern, as he has blocked the inheritance set aside for the deceased’s nephew, Aranzazu Palomino, a partner to Louis Lorenzo. Both were detained a few days ago and later released on bail without a passport, with a court appearance required weekly.

While the inheritance blockade remains in place, the Civil Guard continues to collect evidence to determine whether the death was a crime or an accident, as the family suspects. Investigators say the motive could be tied to a legacy. The victim, Isabel Suarez, had left behind about 60,000 euros in a checking account and some additional assets including rural properties and other funds with unclear values in a circle known as Asturias. Locals say the farms have limited economic value, though the estate forms a notable portion of the family’s concerns.

Isabel Suárez died on June 28 of last year at her niece’s Madrid home, where she had been staying since early March. The relatives, especially her brothers, doubted the illness or accident narrative and suggested an abduction because she had stopped answering calls and communication, a claim that was only clarified after her obituary was published. The notion of abduction prompted requests for an autopsy at Grado Court, which in turn postponed the funeral by twenty-four hours.

The case took a sharper turn when autopsy results were finally disclosed, dispelling earlier uncertainty. Forensic analysis on Isabel’s body revealed unusually elevated levels of two heavy metals: cadmium and magnesium. When faced with these findings, Aránzazu Palomino denied any involvement in her aunt’s death, proposing instead that poisoning could have arisen from compromised food or medications. He contended that Palomino had been caring for Isabel during her stay in Madrid, noting that the two shared a close relationship. Actor Louis Lorenzo, for his part, exercised his right not to testify during the proceedings. The evolving investigation continues to scrutinize all plausible avenues, including the possibility of non-criminal explanations for the death, even as authorities pursue all leads in pursuit of the truth.
