A woman was accused of stabbing her husband in the chest after a heated argument at his home in Cala Major, Palma, on Tuesday night. The victim is a 58-year-old Dutch national who was taken to a mobile intensive care unit in serious condition. Police detained a suspect of Moroccan nationality, the same age as the victim, on suspicion of attempted murder.
The incident occurred around ten o’clock at night inside a house on Miquel Rosselló i Alemany Street in the Palma district of Cala Major. Witnesses reported a tense exchange between the spouses. At one point, it was claimed that the wife had stabbed herself in the chest, but those statements did not clearly outline who, where, how, and why the injury occurred.
Local Police Palm and the National Police responded swiftly to the emergency call. They secured the residence and alerted medical teams to provide on-site care for the injured man. The rapid response aimed to stabilize him and arrange for hospital transfer if needed.
Inconsistent statements
Upon arrival, the woman offered several inconsistent accounts of how the stabbing took place. She mentioned possibilities that the injury occurred in a bar or at the hands of another person, without identifying any specific individual. There were indications she appeared under the influence, with behavior that raised questions about reliability of her statements at that moment.
The National Police homicide investigators began examining the allegations and the evolving testimonies provided by the complainant. Investigators noted the contradictions and worked to determine the sequence of events and identify potential reasons behind the discrepancies. The case quickly moved into a phase focused on establishing responsibility for the stabbing. The person described by authorities as the alleged perpetrator was detained on site, with the motive and circumstances under review as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the regional health team from Ib-salut attended the scene on Miquel Rosselló i Alemany Street. After the patient was stabilized and bleeding controlled, medical personnel transported him to the mobile intensive care unit. He was subsequently moved to Son Espases Hospital, with doctors classifying his condition as serious as the hospital intake proceeded.
