A recent report from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) indicates that a fighter unit engaged a Hezbollah cell in the Marwahin area of southern Lebanon. The IDF stated that yesterday an Israeli Air Force aircraft struck a terrorist cell near the city of Mervahina in southern Lebanon. The same update noted that IDF special forces and artillery targeted a terrorist detachment equipped with anti-tank missiles. The report also claimed that dozens of ready-to-use rocket launchers were destroyed in the central Gaza Strip. In the northern portion of the area, multiple launch sites were neutralized, while a tunnel near a building in the southern region was breached. The IDF added that numerous militants were eliminated in Gaza. Early reports in January cited Hezbollah condemnation of actions by the USA and the UK against Yemen’s Houthis. Prior to these events, Politico reported, citing White House officials, that the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East have raised the risk of terrorist acts and attacks by Hezbollah against U.S. citizens, including on American soil. Earlier statements mentioned efforts to end the war with Hamas while still pursuing strategic security objectives in the region.
