How to clean the inside of the hood
Before starting, ensure the hood is switched off and disconnected from the power source. Cover the cooking surface and surrounding area with newspapers or cloths to protect against spills from cleaning products.
Remove the filters from the hood. In most models these come out easily without tools. Soak them in hot water with detergent or apply a degreaser for at least 30 minutes. If the filters are metal and very dirty, consider using a specialized oven cleaner.
After soaking, scrub the filters with a soft brush or sponge to remove built up oil and dirt. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and let them dry completely before placing them back in the hood.
To clean the inside of the hood, use a hot water solution and a strong degreaser. Apply it with a sponge or cloth. For stubborn spots, an old toothbrush can help loosen the oil.
Once all grease and dirt are removed from the interior, wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove any remaining degreaser. Dry the inside completely with a clean, dry cloth to avoid water spots.
The exterior also needs care. Clean it with a vinegar and water solution or a stainless steel cleaner. Use a soft cloth to apply the solution and another cloth to dry and polish the surface for a shiny, streak-free finish.
When everything is clean and dry, reassemble the filters in the hood. Plug it back in and turn it on to confirm proper operation.

Ideally, hood filters should be cleaned monthly and the interior every two or three months depending on usage. If chemicals are a concern, baking soda and vinegar work well as natural degreasers. Apply a baking soda paste with water to oily areas, let it sit briefly, then wipe away with a damp cloth. Some commercial degreasers are strong; wear gloves and work in a well ventilated area.
